Cruizin' and 'Caching to the North Shore

My good friend, CRider and I went for a ride up to the country! It was fun though we only found five geocaches out of ten hunted. I saw a few special sights that I've never seen before. Starting at Winward Community College for two ingenious and well hidden hides that we found. We then went into the wilds of Kualoa Park where tragedy struck when while hiking through some very tall grass. I looked down and noticed a small clip on my belt was empty... Oh No "Blue"! I yelled like Tom Hanks did for "Wilson". Blue was my first and only GPSr I've owned. Oh well, I guess it's just natural selection on when to upgrade. HaHa! The next notable spot was at Laie Lookout. We climbed down near the water and there are small beautiful caves and a geocache we found down there. Had fun talking with tourists and taking their pictures. A really great day stopping at different places along the shore. We even took a break and ate Kahuku grown shrimp plate lunches. Yumm! Working our way north and along the shore it eventually became the "North Shore". Checked out the boats and Hale'iwa Town. Oh and by the way... it's been hot and muggy so far and now it begins to rain. Incredible! It's cooled down just in time for the drive through the middle of the island. Lots of talking and an all around exciting geocaching kind a day.

Memories...

I went for a terrific Geocaching hike with two Great Buddies today! They are Off-Roader and SilverSurfer73. We hiked up the Manana Trail in light rain and found four geocaches along the way. We created a Great memory of today while my favorite find was named "Memories" by CRider. I brought along this picture I compiled of Tania Cummings and I. She and I grew up across the street from eachother and she's the girl that I had my first crush on. I wish her all the very Best!

Clean up of Lili'uokalani's Playground

I organized a park clean up day. Mrs. Menehune helped beyond the call of duty. 30+ Geocachers came out to help, they also went above and beyond.

Lili'uokalani Botanical Garden was the objective and it needed some TLC. We all worked hard and created two large piles of trash along with an old mattress from the stream. Sulu (Mrs. Menehune) and I arrived at 9am to set up and hide the temporary raffle cache named "Life After Death". After a couple of hours it was time to wash up and share lunch. Everyone brought alot of food and we all enjoyed our time together. I started a "Storyteller of the year" contest and what a blast that was! Spawn, a nice young lady won the prize of a Memories Photo Album. The raffle mat had wonderful donated items too. I actually ended up with a brand new T-shirt from Fiji! It was a terrific day of caring and sharing Hawaii together. Gotta love Geocaching... and Geocachers!

Big Mahalos to all involved.

Geocaching is not a hobby, it's a lifestyle!

I love the outdoors... the mountains, the sea, sharing time with my wife and friends.
That's why Geocaching has become more than a hobby, it's become my lifestyle. I have only found #140 hidden treasure boxes of others, a small number compared to many other players and now have #13 of my own out there. I, of course am Menehune Man. The sport only takes a handheld GPSr unit and a willingness to explore.

Life's either an adventure or your not a Geocacher!
